COVID-19 has us so focused on physical health
That we’re barely thinking of its mental effects.
So many people are living their nightmare,
Struggling to bank the anxiety
Threatening to break the levees
And flood our lives, pushing past reason,
Confirming our worst fears,
Assuring us disaster is imminent and certain.
I understand.
However, never forget that you’re part
Of a race that is unreasonably, implacably
Determined to survive Mother Nature’s worst
We have built thriving cities in -30°c locations
Created systems to hold floods & fires,
Thrived despite the worst wars of humans.
We are designed to live.
All we need today is to remember
The persistent, indefatigable spirit we own,
And not allow ourselves exalt the fear of a thing
Over the knowledge of our faith.
Whether it is a belief in science
Or a trust in God.
While fear is powerful enough to immobilize,
Faith is potent enough to actualize:
Times like these test our trust in each other
And if nothing else, we’ve recently watched
Our humanity win time and time again.
Sure the world will end, but not like this.
Our collective greed won’t let us go like this
Be proactive, listen to doctors, bank the fear.
I’ll leave you with a favourite scripture:
“5 We cast down imaginations,
And every high thing that exalts itself
Against the knowledge of God,
Bringing into captivity every thought
To the obedience of Christ.”
-2 Corinth 10:5
Don’t let anything mess with your mind
