We should all be feminists: we should all fight for the rights of every human being to be protected, nurtured and respected. The rights of women particularly, because we have dwelt in a system that has many times bastardized those rights.

However, I differ from the feminist strain that rejects every idea that does not conform to it’s own, as a reflection of patriarchy and a sign of repression.

If you respect the right of every human being solely because a human being is a person imbued with their own rights and opinions, then you ought to respect the differing and sometimes seemingly crazy thoughts others choose to stand by. They have a right to do so. A right to do so without your judgment. After all you are not fighting for the right of all women to think like one set of feminists, but for the right of women to think for themselves, full stop.

Otherwise, how different are you from the patriarchy that seeks to subjugate anything that differs from it? Girl, leave…and let’s live.
