….and because it’s not everyday you get an email from Chimamanda Adichie (generically disseminated or otherwise), here’s what I got in the e-post the other day.

Thank you for applying to the Farafina Trust creative writing workshop.
Your entry was one of the final shortlist of seventy from about one
thousand and seventy six entries received.

All seventy showed immense promise. Sadly, we had to select only
twenty five because we don’t have the resources to accommodate every
writer on the shortlist.

I want to let you know how much I enjoyed reading your entry- and to
send my regards for your continued writing.

Yeah, sure I didn’t get in but shoot I applied on the day submissions were closing and solely to see if my writing made sense to more than the little people in my head and my family…who hope to capitalise on the fame my writing shall one day bring (Anita you know it’s true! Lol! She’s been dying to say “Do you know whose I am?!” Lol).

It’s just fantastic to get confirmation that you’re on the right path. 🙂
