Hello,
Karibu! I write from the very warm white sands of Zanzibar. Lounging in a beach chair, gazing lazily at fishing boats rocking gently in an ocean so disturbingly blue, it looks unnatural. Yet it is. I’ve seen so many shades of beautiful blue running the gamut from cerulean to indigo to violet on this same palette of an Indian Ocean that I am once again awed at Africa in all its majesty and my God in His artistry. God must have had a ball that creation week, just throwing colours and hues and shades from one end of our planet to another. I had never visited East Africa prior to this trip but my goodness, it is certainly worth every shilling spent! From swimming in the Indian Ocean, snorkeling (more gasping for breath around the snorkeling gear, rookie that I am), to dancing on the beach at moonlight with uncoordinated strangers shielded by a duvet of blinging stars, to trying to spot Kilimanjaro amongst the clouds in Arusha, the last week has been an amazement, leaving me happy, relaxed and so grateful for my life.
It’s a really odd thing that Africans are so much more keen to travel out of the continent in search of a holiday when we live right in the exotic centre of the world. (Actually, I suspect the lack of designer shops might have something to do with it. Lol. We’re here for the style and that bling, thank you very much! 🙂 ). What I love the most about Beautiful Tanzania is how casual the Zanzibaris are about their luxurious surroundings. They fall asleep every night to the soothing sounds of a soft ocean breaking against white sanded beaches; it’s little wonder they answer so many harried questions with a calm and assuring, “Hakuna Matata.”
“No Worries.”

When you fight and fight…yet love harder than ANYTHING combined. My sister Anita, my Day 1!! The real reason for Zanzibar. I adore her.
From Zanzibar, with love,
