(My farewell letter to the law firm on the day I bid them a merry fare thee well…)

Dear Sirs,

“Fortune favours the brave, for she who dares prevails.”

In the last two years, life for me has happened in manic staccato beats of activities, challenges, victories and losses; so alive and full that in these peaceful final moments here, I find myself grappling to seize the appropriate experiences to highlight and summarise my time with you.

There are no words sufficient to capture the vibrancy of my time at this firm; each day has brought in its bag, unique challenges, sweet successes, humbling losses. In all of this, I have learnt far more than I could have ever thought possible, I leave a more rounded, wiser and determined individual. And I can never thank you all enough for this.

I am grateful to each of you for the part you have played in molding me into a better version of myself. To the partners who have brought as much intellectual stimulation as laughter, to my seniors who have never been too busy to teach with wisdom and patience, to my friends; fluent in Legalese, making darker days lighter with humour, an abyss of Latin-coloured jokes and an arsenal of disturbingly apt impersonations, I thank you from the floor of my humbled heart. I will miss this family and hope to always remain a Friend of the House.

As I embark on a new adventure with big dreams and a little fear, I ask that you pray for me as I continue to pray for you. The test I have set for myself is scary, some have said “Impossible!”, indeed achievable only “…when pigs fly”.

It appears then gentlemen, that I shall be going to the stars…on the wings of pigs.

Please do not hesitate to check and see how the ride is going. I can be reached via telephone, or via email.

Sincerely,

Wendelyn
