Valentine's Day Decorations-5
It never seems to stop amazing me, the things that the human condition will permit itself to accept before bowing and making an exit. The strongest people will have their backs bent and pride broken before conceding defeat and giving up on a bad relationship or hurtful child. Our capacity to take ever-increasing amounts of suffering appears to consistently increase…in a disproportionate amount to our ability to settle, comfortably, into the art of being loved, of satiating confidence. When it comes to doubting ourselves, downplaying our attributes, we over perform.

Perhaps it is true to say that human beings are masochists.

The tendency to stay contained, hovering in this neutralizing state of mediocrity is high. Why are so many of us satisfied with less than we deserve? Don’t tell me “We are settling” Settling? You can’t be.

Settling insinuates a happy comfort, a content sitting of skin, the contentment found in comfortably landing on solid ground, it denotes filling a space that’s created with you in mind, that is tailored to fit you, you alone. So that to settle calls to mind the discovery of the correct fit, your fit, finally.

No, you don’t ‘Settle’…you allow.
